Fannie and Freddie

Here is a past post to check out. Look up the Fannie and Freddie podcasts from NPR to get an idea of what they are and how they contributed to the housing/financial crisis.

  1. I thought that all three of these npr podcasts were pretty interesting. During the whole mortgage crisis, I remember constantly hearing about Fannie and Freddie. I would ask my dad to explain it to me but I never truly understood until now, these podcasts put it into pretty easy terms to understand. My question that still remains is, if the best solution to the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac ordeal is to create another "Fannie" and "Freddie" and just pretend that it isn't that and have stricter control over them, why even have them at all? What confuses me is the government's role in the organizations. Why if the government created the organizations and worked with them although "not backing them" did they not pay more attention to what they were doing since it led to the downfall of our economic system which hurt everyone?

  2. I thought this podcast was very interesting. I didn't know that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are the grandchildren of the New Deal propose by FDR. A great man, a great president. What happened to the powers that be who run this country and establish the rules that we the citizens live by. What else needs to happen before we the citizens stand-up and do something to stop this cataclysmic apocalypse. Sharon L Schafer

  3. Still kinda confused by this organization. Can't believe this weird group ruined our housing market. Also hated the fact that the weird dude in charge was "hiking in Peru"... how did my country become so trendy?!
