Shifting Jobs in America

How (and where) are the jobs shifting in America? This will give you an idea. (Be sure you push play)

  1. American unemployment went from region to region after layoffs stuck. This shows a cause and effect reaction of unemployment in one area and how it spreads through the rest of the nation, because of the interconnection between states.

  2. It'd be interesting to see this broken down by job categories. Over 200,000 jobs lost in LA and growing...which sectors are these jobs from? Does this include a crackdown on illegal immigrants finding illegal employment in LA? And what's up with all of the job gain in Texas? It seems like they are seeing a lot of blue. At least Philly has only seen 610 jobs lost...which is bad but not anywhere near the 200,000 mark. Also, Chester, PA which is six miles from where I grew up is gaining in jobs...I think it has something to do with gentrification...but that job gain will level off once the positions are filled and the economy will be stifled again.

Sad, sad state our economy is in...that's for sure.

  3. Look at April of 2008, the map seems to be on the general decline and then lights up a bit bluer in April of 2008?
